BUDAPEST SAXOPHONE QUARTET HUNGARY

More than 25 countries, more than 2000 concerts, 9 awards, 11 records – this is the balance of the Budapest Saxophone Quartet in the last 30 years.

With a 30-year history, they have joined the ranks of famous ensembles such as the Amadeus Quartet, the Borodin Quartet and the Bartók String Quartet. They successfully gave concerts on several continents and countries: (USA, Russia, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Mauritius, Qatar, Israel, etc.), their teachers were: Otto Vhrovnik (SLO), Michiel Oldenkamp (NL), Jean-Pierre Baraglioli ( FRA), László Hadady, Eugene Rousseau (USA). For one season, the quartet performed in Friedrich Dürrenmatt’s crime drama at the Madách Theatre Budapest, with music written for the BSQ.

As a pioneers, they are credited with starting secondary and advanced classical saxophone education in Hungary. At their concerts, they are delighted to perform with different types of soloists (piano, trumpet, oboe, flute, accordion, vocals, choir, organ, strings), and often play with symphonic and concert brass bands, or with a special ensemble like a jazz trio. In 2004, they graduated from the Paris Academy of Music, France. In 2000, they won the exclusive advertising contract of the world’s leading saxophone factory, the Parisian company SELMER, and in 2011, the exclusive (“Silver”) contract of the world’s leading reed and accessory manufacturer, the American company Rico. Their work was rewarded in 2011 with the Artisjus award.
